Ok, so here is my first post. This is mainly for testing purposes more than anything else. However, it could be that this becomes the ONLY post on this entire blog (I have a hard time remembering to write). Even more so, I doubt anyone will find anything I have to say worthwhile. I also find it a little arrogant to think that anything I have to say matters.
But, with that said, I do occasionally want to rant about something… so this gives me the opportunity.

You’re right. No one thinks anything you have to say is worthwhile. Especially if you get a STUPID, IDIOT, DANGEROUS, SCARY thing like a SPIDER!!!!!!! ARE YOU CRAZY?

So I was having a conversation with a couple people the other day about cloning. At first I was completely against it because I figure cloning people and animals is God’s job and cloning animals is also very stupid because we have enough homeless, dying animals in shelters already. But then the conversation turned to talking about cloning animals for the benefit of humans. I mean they were taking pigs, changing some DNA, and cloning them so that the pig’s organs may be used to help people on waiting lists for organs that are essential to their survival such as livers and hearts. My question for you, Mr. Veggie Man, is how do you feel about the cloning of animals for this purpose?
P.S. They were also cloning chickens so that bigger, better chickens may be mass produced for people’s dinner plates but I think I know how you feel about that.

The topic of cloning is difficult. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I agree that it’s playing God. On the other hand, I do believe that beneficial research and outcomes can be developed from cloning animals (I am completely against cloning people).
I do not object to using animals in ways that can save lives. I do not object to people eating animals either. What I object to is the mistreatment of animals and using of animals without an appreciation for the life that they have. For example, I don’t object to a hunter shooting a deer and eating that meat. I object to mistreatment of the animals in these factory farms.
And, for me PERSONALLY, I don’t eat meat. I don’t necessarily think that everyone else should do so. It’s just the decision I have made for myself.
So, I don’t object to the idea of researching the possibility of using animals to harvest organs; I object to mistreating them or not treating them with reverence and recognizing that their life is sacred and that animal is giving it’s life for our benefit. Therefore, it should be treated well.
Yes, I don’t need to mention how I feel about the chicken issue. Although I don’t think that is “cloning.” There are some genetic mutations that are being considered to make them bigger. And the FDA will not label them any different from regular chickens, which is scary.

Ok. So now you make me wonder. Let’s say I have a brother/ father who hunts and they eat that meat. If you were to come over to my place some time and we happen to be having deer meat would you eat it? I know you are a veggie man but according to what you just said, you don’t mind it so much if they are treated right. Or would you still say no thanks to the meat(pretending that you liked deer meat before you became a veggie man)?

It may not have been clear in my previous reply. I have nothing against that method of getting meat. HOWEVER, for ME, I would still refrain from eating it. One of the reasons I am vegetarian is the idea of this: if I can survive and be healthy without any animal dying, then aren’t I obligated to make small sacrifices to keep an animal from dying for my convienience?

Not neccesarily. Even God said you could eat meat. Just saying.

FOR ME. I’m not saying for anyone else. FOR ME. I believe that is a small sacrifice that *I* can make. I’m not saying God says it’s ok or not ok. I’m just saying that, FOR ME, it’s what I feel I should do.
